Dr. Anthony Conrad Kaweesi Kakooza
Deputy Chairperson
Dr. Anthony Conrad Kaweesi Kakooza is the Deputy Chairperson, Leadership Code Tribunal.
Dr. Anthony Conrad K. Kakooza has held positions of leadership as a legal practitioner and academician in different capacities. At the time of his appointment to the Leadership Code Tribunal, he was Head of Intellectual Property Practice at Byenkya, Kihika & Co. Advocates. He has served as the Chair/Convenor of the Intellectual Property Law Cluster of the Uganda Law Society since 2020. Until recently (January 2026), he also served as a Lecturer at the School of Law, Makerere University where he also worked as Acting Head of the Commercial Law Department between 2023 and 2025. He previously served as Senior Lecturer and later Dean of the School of Law at Uganda Christian University where he taught law from 2003 until 2020 when he became an Associate Professor. He is a Visiting Professor of Intellectual Property Law at the University of Illinois in the U.S and Shandong University in China. He has previously held Visiting Professorship positions at Cornell Law School in the U.S.; Masaryk University in the Czech Republic; and University of Rwanda. He is an accredited Arbitrator with the World Intellectual Property Organization and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators – Uganda Chapter. He has been consulted upon by various local, regional and international organizations such as Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), Africa Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO), Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). He has published over eighteen peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on Intellectual Property, Arbitration and Land Law. He has also authored a book on Christian parenting, titled: Conversations to have with our Children: A Call for resolute grooming.

- University of Illinois, U.S.A (2011-2014): Doctor of the Science of Law (J.S.D): Doctorate in Law specializing in Intellectual Property and Cyber law
