The IG investigates and files cases of breach of the Leadership Code of Conduct before the LCT (Section 19 Q of the Leadership Code Act, 2002). The Public may also bring cases through appealing the decision of the IG where a request for the declaration of a public leader or officer  was rejected by the IG (Section 7 of the Leadership Code Act, 2002).
Members of the LCT are appointed by the President on the advice of the Judicial Service Commission and with the approval of Parliament. (Section 19C (1) of the Leadership Code Act, 2002).
The LCT is a  body that supports Government’s institutional initiative in the prevention, detection and elimination of corruption in the public sector. The work of the LCT supports other institutional bodies in the fight against public sector corruption which includes the Anti-Corruption Division of the High Court.
